These lifestyle activations demonstrate my strength in leveraging on-ground marketing for measurable business conversion. I led the execution of brand presences across three major bazaars including securing a key sponsorship at MYEA, Chit Thu Bazaar and launching our proprietary Zay Pwel Taw event. The activations successfully turned simple booths into high-conversion hotspots, directly boosting app registrations, increasing QR payment usage, and significantly expanding our merchant ecosystem.
Situation & Challenge
Market Challenge: Increase the rate of new app registrations and, critically, accelerate the adoption of QR code payments in organic, high-volume retail/lifestyle environments where cash is typically dominant.
Business Goal: Use high-traffic bazaar settings as real-world labs to drive direct customer conversion, onboard new QR merchants, and position Wave Money as the preferred, modern payment method for everyday transactions.
Task & Strategy
My task was the end-to-end management of all three brand presences, with a key focus on maximizing the return on investment (ROI) by tying all engagement directly to a desired conversion action.
Strategy: Gamified Conversion: Design booth experiences that were irresistibly interactive and gamified, using fun challenges and giveaways as incentives that required users to complete a registration or QR transaction to participate.
Key Action Areas: Managed sponsorship execution (Chit Thu Bazaar, MYEA), led the planning and execution of our signature Zay Pwel Taw event in Mandalay, and directed the field team's conversion tactics.
Action & Execution
I led the successful implementation of high-conversion activation strategies across all three events:
(1) High-Conversion Booth Design: Designed and built standout, eye-catching booth experiences that drew massive footfall by clearly communicating a sense of fun and reward.
(2) Gamified Engagement Programs: Developed and deployed specific interactive games and digital wallet demonstrations where participation was contingent on app registration or completing a Wave Money QR payment (the primary conversion goals).
(3) Proprietary Event Execution (Zay Pwel Taw): Led the planning and execution of the company's own Zay Pwel Taw event in Mandalay, managing venue logistics and all marketing elements to maximize brand presence and direct feature usage (especially QR payments).
(4) Merchant Expansion: Worked directly with event vendors to encourage QR merchant enrollment, successfully extending our acceptance network on-site by demonstrating the ease and security of digital payments.
Results & Impact
The campaign directly impacted core business metrics, extending the QR payment ecosystem:
Direct Conversion Boost: Achieved a significant, measurable increase in app registration users directly attributable to the on-site gamification and conversion programs.
Payment Adoption: Successfully drove and tracked a notable increase in QR payment transactions during the bazaar events.
Ecosystem Expansion (Crucial Result): Significantly extended our QR merchant network by enrolling new vendors directly at the events, setting the stage for future payment transactions in the city.
Brand Visibility: Elevated Wave Money's brand visibility and perceived cultural relevance in popular lifestyle and retail spaces, establishing a strong youth connection.
