This strategic sponsorship demonstrated Wave Money’s commitment to Myanmar’s youth culture. I led the end-to-end brand activation for two seasons of the Myanmar E-Sports League, transforming our on-ground presence into a high-traffic engagement hub. This project successfully aligned the brand with a key growth demographic and showcases my ability to manage complex, integrated sponsorships across digital and physical channels.
Situation & Challenge
Market Challenge: Increase brand visibility and adoption of Wave Money among the desirable Gen Z and Millennial (youth) segment, which was rapidly engaging with the emerging e-sports scene in Myanmar.
Business Goal: Position Wave Money as a vibrant, modern, and relevant brand beyond traditional financial services, establishing a strong, positive emotional connection with a demographic known for its high digital adoption potential.
Opportunity: The Myanmar E-Sports League was a primary hub for this target audience.
Task & Strategy
My task was to lead the entire activation execution, ensuring maximum brand visibility and high-quality user engagement throughout both seasons.
Strategy: Create a "Destination" Experience: Move beyond standard logo placement by creating an interactive physical booth and online presence that offered genuine value and fun tailored to the gaming audience.
Key Action Areas: Management of the total sponsorship lifecycle, including creative concept, physical design, merchandise production, and live engagement protocol.
Action & Execution
I managed the core activation efforts across all touchpoints:
On-Ground Activation Design: Designed and oversaw the construction of the Wave Money booth, focusing on interactive activities (e.g., gaming challenges, photo booths) tailored to draw massive footfall.
Branded Merchandise & Giveaways: Managed the procurement and distribution of youth-focused, branded merchandise to drive brand recall and excitement.
Live Engagement Strategy: Coordinated the on-site engagement team and ensured the interactive activities smoothly linked back to Wave Money's services or brand message.
Results & Impact
The successful activation delivered strong visibility and brand alignment:
High Footfall & Engagement: Wave Money booth became a key attraction, successfully drawing massive on-ground traffic and participation from the target demographic.
Brand Positioning: Successfully positioned Wave Money as a vibrant, youth-driven brand at the heart of Myanmar’s growing e-sports culture, significantly increasing brand favorability among young adults.
Digital Reach: Drove high-impact visibility across digital channels (social media reach, engagement with event hashtags, and influencer partnerships).
