🏀 Hoop Fest 2K25 Activation: Remote Leadership & High-Impact Youth Branding

Project type

Sponsorship

Date

Feb 2025

Location

Yangon, Myanmar

Role

Project Lead

This initiative is a critical case study in how to drive direct conversion (QR payments) through strategically brilliant on-ground activation all managed remotely from Bangkok. I successfully orchestrated Wave Money’s full brand sponsorship at Hoop Fest 2K25, creating a high-energy mechanism where the ultimate youth prize Air Jordan 1s (yellow) was directly linked to app usage and QR payments. This project showcases my mastery of remote leadership, cross-functional coordination, and conversion-focused gamification to achieve a 100% project accomplishment.

Situation & Challenge

Primary Challenge: Drive increased QR code payment usage and incentivize existing Wave Money users to transact within the on-ground ecosystem of the event (food vendors, merchants).

Strategic Constraint: Management and execution had to be handled remotely from Bangkok, requiring meticulous planning and delegation to ensure a complex, high-stakes mechanism was implemented flawlessly on the ground.

Prize Opportunity: Basketball and street culture offered a high-value incentive the iconic Air Jordan 1 perfect for driving specific, transactional behavior.

Task & Strategy

My task was to lead the execution of the multi-faceted activation, ensuring the strategic prize mechanism was clear to attendees and flawlessly managed by the on-ground team.

Strategy: High-Value Gamification tied to Conversion: Utilize the cultural appeal of a color-matched Air Jordan 1 as the grand prize incentive. Crucially, the entry mechanism was structured to force users into the app and complete the desired actions (QR payment).

Key Action Areas: Designed the entire "Stamp Point Collection" loyalty mechanism, managed prize procurement (the Air Jordans), oversaw all digital and physical communication of the rules, and directed the team remotely to ensure accurate tracking of participant eligibility.

Action & Execution

I utilized strong remote leadership to implement the complex, conversion-focused prize mechanism:

(1) Conversion Mechanism Design: Conceptualized and implemented the campaign rules: participants had to be existing Wave users, complete a minimum-amount QR payment at a food court merchant, and collect stamp points via other tasks to enter the Grand Draw for the Air Jordan 1s.

(2) Strategic Prize Procurement: Secured the Air Jordan 1 (yellow) prize, specifically color-matching it to the Wave brand aesthetic to ensure maximum visual impact and cultural resonance with basketball players and supporters.

(3) Remote Execution Control: Managed the logistics and execution team from abroad, providing clear, detailed protocols for the stamp collection, QR verification process, and prize draw management to ensure 100% security and accuracy.

(4) Digital Amplification: Directed the digital content to heavily feature the prize and the mechanism, driving traffic from social channels directly to the physical booth to complete the required transactions.

Results & Impact

The strategic use of the prize delivered phenomenal transactional results and confirmed my remote leadership capability:

Direct Transaction Drive: The Air Jordan incentive was highly effective, directly boosting QR payment usage at targeted food court merchants and increasing overall app engagement during the event.

High-Quality Engagement: The campaign mechanism successfully targeted and engaged active Wave Money users, driving quality interactions and loyalty.

Remote Leadership Confirmed: Successfully delivered 100% accomplishment on a complex event with high-value assets and multi-step mechanisms, demonstrating my strength in leading cross-functional teams and external agencies entirely remotely.
